Trout Goodied
The trout goodeid is scientifically known as Ilyodon furcidens.
This freshwater fish has a torpedo-shaped body that resembles a small trout, which is how it got its common name. They typically grow to 3–5 inches (7–12 cm). Their coloring is olive to golden-brown with iridescent blues and a row of orange or reddish spots along the sides. Males are usually more colorful and slightly smaller than females.
Native to central Mexico, trout goodeids belong to the Goodeidae family — a unique group of livebearing fish.
